Mapaso Hot Spring is now a picnic site not only for Mainitnons, but also for visitors from Surigao City and other towns in the province. I happened to be on location about five years ago with my family before the place was developed by the Mainit municipal government as a wellness resort. It's really nature in raw beauty then, with hot water oozing out from the earth. While hot water gushes out from the earth on the hillside, cold water also flows continuously through the creek nearby.

the development of the
spring as a wellness resort transformed it into a place where man-made
structures fit in, like concrete ponds and pools embedding the natural
landscape. A necessary physical enhancement so that more visitors can
really enjoy this natural blessing as they dip their bodies in hot water pools
or just submerge themselves in the cooling pond.
Mapaso Hot Spring can be reached by motor vehicles in just 10 minutes from the poblacion of Mainit, Surigao del Norte. It is approximately 55 kilometers from Surigao City.
